Books

Books contain more in-depth information than journal articles, but because it takes some time for a book to be published, the information in books is not as current. For more information about the location of books consult the section locating and accessing books under the find information tab on the step-by-step guide.

Reference books, such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, can be used to find background information on your topic and is a good place to start your research.

Reference books are kept on the upper or lower level (depending on the subject) on shelves with green disks on the side.

Consult the Library's e-reference page for electronic reference works that we have access to.

Electronic book collections

Stellenbosch University Library and Information Service subscribes to a number of e-book packages. Select one of the packages mentioned below or visit our webpage for e-books. Opening the NXInetkey will download these web pages faster.

You could also consult the Subject Guide for your specific subject to see which e-books are recommended by your faculty librarian.
