Course Reading Lists: Step 2. Add to / Edit your reading list

This guide is designed to help you understand and navigate your course reading lists.

Add resources to your reading list

Learn here (6:24) various ways to add resources to your reading list including:

  • Adding Library resources
  • Using the Cite It! bookmarket
  • Using a blank form for your own resources
  • Importing resources using a RIS file

Physical books/articles from the Library, Digitisation & Copyright

Physical books included in your reading list (excluding books from the Military Academy Reference Library) can be made available as Short Loan items at a specific library. You may also request that one chapter of a physical book be digitised. To do so:

  • First report usage in SUNLearn to the CHEC Office (see also Copyright).
  • Once copyright clearance has been obtained, click the citation in your reading list to open the citation’s full view and Add Tag to item.
  • Select the Digitisation request tag (which only you and the Library can see) and Save.
  • To your right, under Library Discussion, add the chapter details and CHEC request number and Submit Comment.

  • Once submitted for Library Review, the Library will digitise the chapter and upload the file to be available alongside the physical copy in the Library.
  • The same procedure can be followed for the digitisation of articles that are available in the Library in print only.

Uploading files to your reading list

If uploading a file, if it is not self-authored or contains third party content, first report usage in SUNLearn to the CHEC Publishing Liaison Office (see also Copyright). Then upload the file and indicate having obtained copyright clearance.

Add the CHEC request number to the Library Discussion.

When the reading list is sent for Library Review, the Library will double-check that copyright clearance has been indicated (where applicable) before changing the status of the citation from Being Prepared/Sent to Complete.

Before you scan / digitise a document for upload to your reading list, first consult the Scanning guidelines provided by the Disability Unity.

Edit your list & manage collaborators

Learn how to manage your list, including adding collaborators, organising the resource list, sections and items, and adding tags.

SU facilitators who wish to add collaborators to their list to help them edit/manage their reading lists may contact the Library to add these collaborators. They will be invited via e-mail to join the list.

If additional tags are required to mark your citations with and sort them by, contact the Library to add them for SU.

Mark as broken:

Facilitators and students can mark e-resources links as broken from the full view of a citation (click a citation in reading list to open full view).

My Collection

In this session you will learn how to access your My Collection, add items to your collection, and organise it using tags. You will also learn how to add items from your collection to a reading list.
