students and staff members of Stellenbosch University.

SU e-application process
If you do not have your own SU username and password, see the
SU user application options below for access to electronic services on the SU campus (and off-campus), which is handled by the Information Technology Division of the University.
Follow links below for specific application process:
Undergraduate & postgraduate students
Undergraduates and postgraduates can apply online for submission through the University's application
system (SUNStudent applicant portal). This process is handled by the
University's Admission Office.

Once you have completed your e-application AND you are a registered undergraduate or postgraduate student, should you have off-campus access to the library's academic licensed e-resources and your library account to, renew your books online, on the library website with your SU username and new password.
Note: In accordance with the University's password policy it is necessary to change your password via https://www.sun.ac.za/password every 90 days otherwise your e-access will automatically expire.
IMPORTANT: Your SU username will only be valid until the end of March each year. You will have to reactivate your username prior to the cut-off date otherwise your e-access will expire.
Prospective postgraduate students
Due to licensing agreements, access to the library's subscription e-resources is restricted to currently registered students and staff members of Stellenbosch University.
To acquire access to the library's subscription e-resources in order to finalise your research proposal for approval, you must first complete the SU e-application process for prospective postgraduate students, which is detailed below:
STEP 1Please submit your prospective postgraduate student application through the University's application system (SUNStudent applicant portal). This process is handled by the University's Admission Office.

How to apply for postgraduate studies. STEP 2After above step had been done, you will eventually receive an Application ID which will give you access to the SU portal to login and complete your e-application by uploading the necessary documents required.

Enquiries
Any enquiries regarding your application can be directed to our Client Services at
info@sun.ac.za. Remember to provide your Applicant ID.
*Please note the Application ID will only give you access to the SUNStudent portal to complete your e-application. You will only gain access to the subscription e-resources on the library website once your e-application had been completed.STEP 3Once your
e-application as a prospective postgraduate student had been completed, you will receive a
SU student number (should be the reactivation of your previous undergraduate student number if you are an alumni) by the University's Admission Office.
Once you received your SU student number, you can create your
own unique password. See

Thereafter you will gain access to the subscription e-resources on the
library website with your SU username and new created password.

The user account application for staff members are handled by their department under their own cost centres.
Should you find yourself at the University as a staff member without your own SU username and password, please consult with your departmental secretary to complete the username application process (step 1 - 2), thereafter you need to complete the final step:
Departemental secretaryStep 1:
If the user already has a role and US number, you need to
create a username for the staff member.
Step 2:
Approve the new created username on the departmental cost point via the University's
User Administration, choose Cost Cente Admin. Email the newly created SU username and temporary password to the staff member.
Staff member
After above steps had been done, you will receive an email from your departmental secretary providing you with your own SU username and temporary password. You can now create your
own unique password.

Cost
The
cost of username reactivation of a staff member will be debited to the cost centre of the particular academic department/division on campus. The cost centre to be used for user reactivation must be provided by the academic department/division (in most instances the administrative officer of the department/division will be able to provide this).

reactivate your username prior to the cut-off date otherwise your e-access will expire.
External workers
Academic departments/divisions may choose to register their external workers at their particular department/division for electronic services (e-access) under their own cost centres for a SU user account.
Should you find yourself at the
University as an external worker without your own SU username and password, please
consult with your departmental secretary to complete the identity role and username application process (step 1 - 3), thereafter you need to complete the last step:
Departmental secretaryStep 1: Create an
identity record for external worker on SUNiD.
Step 2: Once the user already has a role and US number, you need to
create a username for your external worker.
Step 3: Approve the new created SU username on the departmental cost point via the University's
User Administration, choose
