Data Management Plan Tool - SunDMP

Data management planning
Data management planning is a process during which researchers describe the manner in which they plan to manage data during and after their research projects. The process of data management planning is facilitated through the use of data management plans. The plans have to be submitted to research funders as part of research grant applications.
See Research Data Management guide for details.

University requirements
Stellenbosch University mandates its researchers to utilise the SunDMP platform for crafting data management plans.

DMP software
The SunDMP tool was launch on Monday, 13 May 2024, which allows SU researchers to easily generate their data management plans by simply completing the SU DMP form or template.

Training and help
SunDMP Wednesdays - every Wednesday from 5 June 2024, 11:00 - 12:00.
Clients can also register for Data Management Planning sessions during the #SmartResearcher workshops.

Open Access Agreements

The Library and Information Service has signed agreements with a number of publishers that make it easier for SU researchers to publish open access (OA) with these publishers, and in some cases to even publish OA without paying any article processing charge (APC). Many of these agreements have been negotiated by the South African National Library and Information Consortium (SANLiC), of which Stellenbosch University is a member.
Consult the Open Access Publishing guide for a list of publishers and agreements.
Contact person: Mr Sakhile Mngomezulu (sakhilemn@sun.ac.za)

To find a list of possible journals for publishing, please also see the "Where to publish" page.

The Think! Check! Submit! website offers a comprehensive check list you can use to identify predatory journals before submitting: Journals • Think. Check. Submit. (thinkchecksubmit.org)

TurnitIn and AI

TurnItIn has a new AI Detection Tool available.
In order to use this functionality, one must enable this option (‘enable turnitin detection’) in the settings as you create the TurnItIn link.
This AI future only works in the TurnItIn link and not in the assignment link with Turnitin enabled.

While Turnitin’s Similarity Score is an exact match to a large body of content for similarity checking, the AI writing score indicates the percentage of text in a document that was likely generated by an AI tool
